About

Sunriver Fire Department

Sunriver Fire Department. Providing professional fire, emergency medical and rescue services to the Sunriver community and beyond since 1968.

The Sunriver Fire Department provides fire protection, emergency medical services, and public education to the Sunriver community and surrounding areas in Central Oregon. Covering over 31 square miles, the Sunriver Fire Department is responsible for protecting residents, businesses, and millions of annual visitors to the popular Sunriver Resort.

Originally established in 1974 as a subscription fire department, the Sunriver Fire Department transitioned to a rural fire protection district in 1996. Today, the department operates out of two strategically located stations staffed by a team of dedicated career firefighters and reservists. Sunriver firefighters undergo extensive training to stay prepared for structural and wildland firefighting, emergency medical response, specialized rescues, and regional deployments.

Beyond emergency response, the Sunriver Fire Department places a strong emphasis on community risk reduction through fire inspections, code enforcement, and public outreach programs. The department actively works to make Sunriver fire safe through school programs, smoke alarm installations, defensible space inspections, and collaboration with organizations like FireFree and Firewise Communities.

Looking to the future, the Sunriver Fire Department is committed to constructing a new public safety campus to enhance emergency response capabilities. With scenic forests, critical infrastructure, and a thriving community to protect, the department will continue its tradition of exceptional service, safety, and stewardship.
